The Devil Went Down to Georgia

This is a BIG TIME classic! It may be country, but it surely rocks! Here's Charlie Daniels Band...

Silent Lucidity

This offering is from the great Seattle band Queens Ryche, from their 1990 album Empire. The song is about, oh, a lot of things, but for sure fits the paranormal billing. Here's the lyrics, then the video...

Hush now don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream
spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is, another chance
wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over... or has it just begun?

There's a place I like to hide
A door way that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face the fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
Commanding in another world
Suddenly you hear and see
This magic new dimension

(chorus) I - Will be watching over you
I - am gunna help you see it through
I - will protect you in the night
I - am smiling next to you, in Silent Lucidity

[spoken during solo]
(Visualize your dream)
(Record it in present tense)
(Put it into a permanent form)
(If you persist in your efforts)
(You can achieve dream control)
(Dream Control)
(How are we feeling today, better??)
(Dream Control, dream control)
(Help Me)

If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
The walls you built within
come tumbling down,
and a new world will begin
Living twice at once you learn
You're free from pain in the dream domain
A soul set free to fly
round trip journey in your head
Master of illusion, can you realize
Your dreams alive, you can be the guide but...

(chorus) I - will be watching over you
I - am gunna help to see it through
I - will protect you in the night
I - am smiling next to you...

Love is Blindness

This is from the hugely successful Irish band, U2. It is from their multi-platinum award winning album Achtung Baby. The song is the mournful dirge-like song Love is Blindness. Kinda ghostly...

Love is Blindness, I don't want to see
Won't you wrap the night around me?
Oh, my heart, love is blindness

In a parked car, in a crowded street
You see your love made complete
Thread is ripping, the knot is slipping
Love is blindness

Love is clockworks and cold steel
Fingers too numb to feel
Squeeze the handle, blow out the candle
Love is blindness

Love is blindness, I don't want to see
Won't you wrap the night around me?
Oh, my love, blindness

A little death without mourning
No call and no warning
Baby, a dangerous idea
That almost makes sense

Love is drowning in a deep well
All the secrets and no one to tell
Take the money, honey...
Blindness

Love is blindness, I don't want to see
Won't you wrap the night around me?
Oh, my love, blindness

Fade Into You

I'm not so sure this song is paranormal lyrically, but it sure fits the bill musically. This song is performed by the alternative band Mazzy Star. It can be found on the 1993 album 'So tonight that I might see'. A truly haunting song.

I want to hold the hand inside you
I want to take a breath that's true
I look to you and I see nothing
I look to you to see the truth
You live your life
You go in shadows
You'll come apart and you'll go blind
Some kind of night into your darkness
Colors your eyes with what's not there

(chorus) Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew

A strangers light comes on slowly
A strangers heart without a home
You put your hand into your head
And then smiles cover your heart

Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it strange you never knew

Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew
I think it's strange you never knew

She said, she said & Eleanor Rigby

The Beatles, ah, the Beatles. They were huge! And the British invasion that they started... well, it would appear that Paranormal Tunes have been around for quite along time. The Beatles brought us 2 such songs on their 1966 release 'Revolver'. They had ties to the occult, and what not, but the majority of their music would not be considered 'paranormal' I mean, 'I wanna hold your hand'? Really... Anyway, the two selections we have here are Eleanor Rigby and She said, she said. I'll let you figure how they are paranormal.

Ok, look at the black and white cover for Revolver, it could be paranormal! John is sporting the same eyes as a grey alien... oh John... George has the 'alienesque' eye thing too, and Paul looks kind elvin minus pointy ears. And Ringo is, well, just Ringo, however.
My apologies on the video for Eleanor Rigby, I will add a new one to the bottom of the post that actually has all the vocal tracks.

She said, she said                                                                         Eleanor Rigby

She said "I know what it's like to be dead                                  Ah, look at all the lonely people(2x)
I know what it is to be sad"
And she's making me feel like I'd never been born                     Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice
in the church where a wedding
I said "Who put all those things in your hair                               has been. Lives in a dream
Things that make me feel mad                                                   Waits at the window, wearing a face
And you're making me feel like I've never been born"                that she keeps in a jar by the door
                                                                                               Who is it for?
She said "You don't understand what I've said"
I said "No, no, no you're wrong.                                                (chorus) All the lonely people
When I was a boy everything was right                                     Where do they all come from?
Everything was right"                                                                 All the lonely people
                                                                                                 Where do they all belong?
I said "Even though you know what you know
I know that I'm ready to leave                                                   Father McKenzie writing the words
Cos you're making me feel like I've  never been born"                of a sermon that no one will hear
                                                                                                No one comes near
She said "You don't understand what I've said"                           Look at him working, darning
I said "No, no, no you're wrong                                                 his socks in the night
When I was a boy everything was right                                      when there's nobody there
Everything was right"                                                                 What does he care?

I said "Even though you know what you know                            (Chorus)
I know that I'm ready to leave                                                    Ah, look at all the lonely people(2x)
Cos you're making me feel like I've never been born"
Eleanor Rigby died in the church
She said "I know what it's like to be dead                                  and was buried along with her name
I know what it is to be sad                                                        Nobody came
I know what it's like to be dead..."                                             Father McKenzie wiping the dirt
from his hands as he walks from
                                                                                                the grave
                                                                                                No one was saved

All the lonely people (Ah look at all
                                                                                                the lonely people)
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people (Ah, look at all
                                                                                               the lonely people)
                                                                                               Where do they all belong?

Waiting for a girl like you & Girl on the moon

Foreigner is one of the greatest bands of the '80's. The Song 'Waiting for a girl like you' is a timeless classic. It may not be directly paranormal in content, but as for sound, it has a hypnotic instrumental part that just lulls and mesmerizes! Lead singer Lou Gramm  said that when they recorded this song, there was an amazingly drop dead gorgeous lady who entered the studio and it was as if he were singing this song to her. After the recording session, no one else that was there even saw the gorgeous woman... Lou and the band consider it a muse of spirit helping the recording of this track along! You be the judge!

Waiting for a girl like you appeared on the Foreigner 4 album along with another  'Paranormal Tune', Girl on the moon. My take on it, whether correct or not, is that either the author of the song is having a lucid dream, an O.B.E. (Out of Body Experience), or is in a transcendental state. Any way ya look at it, Girl on the moon is an equally catchy and accessible tune with some truly paranormal potential going on!

Waiting for a girl like you                                                             Girl on the moon
So long I've been looking to hard                                                 It's night again
I've been waiting too long                                                            Time for my mind to go wandering
Sometimes I don't know                                                              Off on a journey
what I will find                                                                             through space and time
I only know it's a matter of time                                                   In search of a place
When you love someone (2x)                                                      I can never find
                                                                                                  So I close my eyes
It feels so right                                                                             and look inside.
So warm and true                                                                        I can't forget
I need to know if you feel it too                                                    the night that I saw her,
                                                                                                  we never met
Maybe I'm wrong                                                                       She felt so close to me
Won't you tell me if                                                                     as I reached for her hand
I'm coming on to strong                                                               she drifted away with the
This heart of mine                                                                        desert sand
has been hurt before                                                                    It was her, she was gone
This time I want to be sure
I wish she'd come back tonight
(chorus) I've been waiting                                                            Like a star shining bright
for a girl like you to                                                                     But I know where she's from
come into my life                                                            (chorus) She's like a girl on the moon
I've been waiting                                                                         A girl on the moon
for a girl like you                                                                          She's like a girl on the moon
who'll love and will survive                                                           A girl on the moon
I've been waiting
for someone new                                                                         Yes it's night once again
to make me feel alive                                                                    and that same old feeling
Yea waiting                                                                                  is setting in
for a girl like you                                                                           it all seems so familiar
to come into my life                                                                      but I hope this time
the girl on the moon will
You're so good                                                                             soon be mine
 when we make love
it's understood                                                                              All mine... tonight
It's more than a touch                                                                   Am I asking too much?
or a word we say                                                                         Should I leave my dream
only in dreams can it be this way                                                   untouched?
When you love some one                                                             Should I even know
Yea, really love someone                                                              where she's from?

Well I know it's right                                                                    My girl on the moon
from the moment I wake up                                                         She's my girl on the moon
till deep in the night                                                                      Girl on the moon
There's no place on earth                                                             My girl on the moon
I'd rather be                                                                                (Girl on the moon) (repeat 9x)
than holding you tenderly

(chorus)

I've been waiting,
waiting for you
(I've been waiting for a girl like you,
I've been waiting)
Won't you come into my life
Yea!
(Waiting for a girl like you)

Building a Mystery

This entry is from Sarah McLachlan, who we'll be revisiting down the road for sure. This song is a virtual 'buffet' of paranormal offerings. From Vampyrs to ghosts and voodoo dolls, this song covers quite a bit with a haunting style.

You come out at night
that's when the energy comes
and the dark side's light and the vampires roam

You strut your rasta wear
a suicide poem and a cross
from a faith that died before
Jesus came
You're building a mystery

You live in a church
where you sleep with voodoo dolls
and you won't give up the search
for the ghosts in the halls
You wear sandals in the snow
with a smile that won't wash away
Can you look out the window
without your shadow getting in the way?
You're so beautiful with an edge and charm
But so careful when I'm in your arms
'Cause you're working
building a mystery
Holding on, holding in
now you're working
building a mystery
and choosing so carefully

You woke up screaming aloud
a prayer from your secret god
You feed off our fears
and hold back your tears (oh)
and give us a tantrum
and a know it all grin
Just when we need one
when the evening's thin
Oh you're beautiful,
a beautiful f***ed up man
You're setting up your razor wire shrine

Because you're working
building a mystery
Holding on, holding in
Yea, you're working
building a mystery
and choosing so carefully

Oh you're working
building a mystery
Holding on. holding in
Yea you're working
building a mystery
and choosing so carefully
Yea you're working
building a mystery
Holding on, holding in
Yea you're working
building a mystery
and choosing so carefully
Building a mystery

Myst 3: Exile

There are 3 tracks of the Myst 3 score. And, yes I'm stretching the realm of paranormal tunes here on, well, Paranormal Tunes. why not include video games in with other media?
So, this one will be loaded... I have four selections for your listening pleasure here. First is the Main Title track. It is fantasy, mystical, epic like Lord of the Rings or Narnia in scope. It brings to the imagination fantasy creatures battling it out in an epic war of good and evil or something to that effect! Very haunting indeed. The next track, is #5 on the CD and is called Saavedo's Theme. It is an eerie techno chiller sounding theme. Great for the dead of night and sneaking around stealthily. Also has 'feed back' sounds like what you might get on an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) recording... like metallic hinge squealing type sounds. Third up is track #12, Theme from Edanna. This track has a desert dwelling, mystical sound of Egypt meeting a Muslim/ Hindu prayer/poem being sung out! Very unique... kind Arabian Knights! Think of a mighty Djinn when you take this one in! And lastly, is a bonus track sung by composer Jack Walls wife. It has a 'James Bond' feel to it and is just a great track. So, here they are! BTW, no lyrics other than the bonus tack, but it's a bonus not necessarily paranormal, so no lyrical attachment here.

So, there you have some exciting haunting and amazing music from the PC game Myst 3: Exile composed by Jack Wall.

Predator 2

There are a lot of very mystical movie sound tracks and none are edgier than the classic Predator movies. Alan Silvestri composed the scores for the 2 original movies. Here I will present 2 tracks from the Predator 2 movie score.
The first track is the Main Title and the second is called El Scorpio. Between the two, El Scorpio is by far the more menacing of the two as it feels as if YOU are being stalked on safari.
The basis of Predator 2 is that voodoo posses are on the move in L.A. California, and the predator creature decides to help the carnage along! The tracks are very short and have no lyrics. On El Scorpio, the very beginning has the safari from hell feel, then a musical segue, then about 1:52 into it it jumps back into the 'I'm being stalked feeling. Hope this raises the hair on your neck!

Ok, so it gave a bonus song on the El Scorpio track with the track 'This is History' which makes this video 9 minutes long. Only the first part is the intended track here.

Africa

Lesiem is a studio group from Europe. Africa is on their second CD 'Illuminations'. It is all in Latin or some foreign tongue, but a beautiful song none the less!
This video includes lyrics, so I won't bother re-posting them here.

Africa!

This song captures the feel of the dark continent in a haunting and moving way! Enjoy!

Stay for a while

This song is brought to us by the pop artist Amy Grant from her 1986 album 'The Collection'. This song has always been a favorite, in that it nails the dreamy, ethereal  feel of days gone by perfectly! So, here we go with Stay for a while...

This song is simply amazing!

Long time since I've seen your smile
But when I close my eyes
I remember (I remember)

You were no more than a child
But then so was I
Young and tender

Time carries on
I guess it always will
Deep inside my heart
Time stands still

(chorus)Stay for a while
Well it's good to see your smile
and I love your company
Stay for a while
We'll remember the days gone by
for a moment it can seem
Just the way it used to be

Snow falls, phone calls, broken hearts
clear summer days warm and lazy
Long walks, long talks after dark
We vowed we'd never forget
Now it's hazy

Time takes its toll
time alters our view
It would be nice to spend some time with you

(chorus)Oh, stay for a while
well it's good to see your smile
and I love your company
(oh,oh) Stay for a while
and remember the days gone by
For a moment it can seem
Just the way it used to be

Stay (please stay)
Stay, stay, stay
won't you, won't you
(chorus) Stay for a while
Well it's good to see your smile
and I love your company
(oh, oh) Stay for a while
and remember the days gone by
Just the way it used to be
Stay for a while
oh it's good to see your smile
and I love your compny
Won't you stay with me
For a while and remember
the days gone by
For a moment it can seem
Just the way it used to be

The way it used to be (be-e-e-e)
(be-e-e-e) the way it used to be...

Dr. Heckyll & Mr. Jive and Overkill

One of my all time favorite bands is Men at Work. I've met their lead singer, Collin Hay. This two for one deal comes from the 1983 release Cargo. They had two songs that are Paranormal Tunes. I'll present both here to ya.
The first is a fun spoof on the horror classic 'Dr. Jeckyl and Mr.Hyde' where mad scientist Dr. Jeckyl does experiments on himself and finds himself transforming into another unsavory nightmare calling himself Mr. Hyde. Mr. Hyde is not a nice fellow. In Men at Works song, however, the mad scientist, Dr. Heckyll is a total nerd who wants to transform into a pop/ socialite by means of science and magic. Does it work? You be the judge. I think this song touches on the fundamental human experience of 'how do I, or can I fit in'. The ever elusive question of how do I get to be accepted. It's fun that it is set as a 'camp fire' tail here in.
We'll start here then go on to our next selection.

So, there is a bunch more on this particular video clip than just the video for Dr. Heckyll & Mr. Jive.
Here's the lyrics and then we'll be on to... Overkill.

Dr. Heckyll works late in the laboratory
Where things are not as they seem
Dr. Heckyll wishes nothing more desperately
Than to fulfill all of his dreams
Letting loose a scream in the dead of night
As he's breaking new ground
Trying his best to unlock all the secrets
But he's not sure what he's found
Dr. Heckyll is his own little guinea pig
'Cos they all think he's mad
set his sights on the search of a life time
And he's never, never sad

Whoa oh, it's off to work he goes
In the name of science and all it's wonders...

(Chorus) This is the story of Dr. Heckyll & Mr. Jive
They are a person who feels good to be alive
This is the story of Dr. Heckyll & Mr. Jive
Believes the underdog will eventually survive

Not long now till the ultimate experiment
He's breaking all the rules
He wants to cure all matter of imbalances
In this world of fools
He locks the door and looks around nervously
He knows there's no one there
He drinks it down and waits for a reaction
To all his work and care

Hey, hey he fumbles for what to say
He loves the world except for all the people...

(chorus) This is the story of Dr. Heckyll & Mr. Jive
They are a person who feels good to be alive
This is the story of Dr. Heckyll & Mr. Jive
Believes the under dog will eventually survive

Whoa oh, it's out at night he goes
He slips easily into conversation
Oh, hey, hey, he's cool in every way
Sometimes he loves to sing that old black magic

(chorus) This is the story of Dr. Heckyll & Mr. Jive
They are a person who feels good to be alive
This is the story of Dr.Heckyll & Mr. Jive
Believes the underdog will eventually survive (repeat)

Next on our list, from the same album is the song Overkill. This one is less humorous, but not overly heavy. It is just a very sexy haunting song that mentions that '... ghosts appear and fade away'. I've loved this song from the very first listen so many years ago. I'll include the Men at Work version, and the Colin Hay acoustic version.
The band, Men at Work, did not take to the song when it was presented to them by front man Colin Hay. It did, however, go on to be the biggest hit from the Cargo album and continues to be a popular song on the radio and in various domestic settings where pop music is heard (department stores, super markets etc.)
With out any further delay... Overkill

The acoustic version by Colin Hay has all the lyrics included, so I won't bother to be redundant and re post them all here.  Anyway, no matter how you slice it, Overkill is a fabulously gorgeous song. In the original, the keyboards, sax and guitar solo are all driven by the powerfully presented vocals. In the more subdued acoustic version, it is just as intense, just more straight forward due to the vocal and guitars only.
I hope you enjoy this gem!
See you soon with more Paranormal Tunes!

Somebody's Watchin' Me

Somebody's Watching Me is a self titled single EP from 1984and is by '80's Motown/ pop-rock artist Rockwell. It is as popular as it gets with a Paranormal Tune. The video is set in a haunted house/ Psycho type of theme, which is quite fitting for it. It is a carnival caricature of the classic horror movie genre.
The song features famed Motown artists (and brothers) Jermaine and Michael Jackson.  It was remixed and released on Michael Jackson's post mortem album 'Immortal' in 2011. Also released as a remixed single on Beatfreakz in 2006.
It has been in many movies as well as a series of GEICO Insurance commercials.

Who's watching
Tell me, who's watching
Who's watching me

I'm just an average man
With an average life
I work from nine to five
Hey, hell, I pay the price
All I want is to be left alone
In my average home
But why do I always feel
Like I'm in the Twilight Zone

(chorus) And (I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
And I have no privacy
Whooooa - oh - o
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Tell me, is it just a dream

When I come home at night
I bolt the door real tight
People call me on the phone
I'm trying to avoid
But can the people on t.v. see me
Or am I just paranoid

When I'm in the shower
I'm afraid to wash my hair
'Cause I might open my eyes
And find someone standing there
People say I'm crazy
Just a little touched
But maybe showers remind me
Of Psycho too much
That's why

(chorus) (I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
And I have no privacy
Whooooa - oh - oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Who's playing tricks on me

[Instrumental Interlude]

(Who's watching me)
I don't know anymore
Are the neighbors watching me
(Who's watching)
Well,is the mailman watching me
(Tell me who's watching)
And I don't feel safe anymore
Oh,what a mess
I wonder who's watching me now
(Who)
The I.R.S.

(chorus) (I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
And I have no privacy
Whooooa, oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Tell me, is it just a dream

(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
And I have no privacy
Whooooa, oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Who's playing tricks on me
(Who's watching me)
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Oooooh
Whooooa - oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
So? Who can it be
(Who's watching me)
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Whooooa -oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Who's playing tricks on me
(Who's watching me)
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Can I have my privacy
Whooooa -oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Who's playing tricks on me

This video is 100% Paranormal Tunes material!

On the Beat Freaks video... a strong PG-13, but done really well. If you are opposed to your children seeing legs and 'booties', ya might just want to cover the screen and listen to the song. It is a great techno rendition of this song. The 'Midget' Michael Jackson (not kidding folks!) is worth watching! Enjoy!

Everything you know is wrong!

Ah ha! This is such a fun one from Weird Al Yankovic from his 1996 album 'Bad Hair Day'. It's a Weird Al original! Comes with his standard accordion and a great surf rock riff! Too much fun! I'd recommend watching the video first, cuz if you just go off the lyrics you read, it isn't half the fun and may not be as enjoyable.

I was driving on the freeway in the fast lane
with a rabid wolverine in my underwear
when suddenly a guy behind me in the back seat
popped right up and cupped his hands across my eyes

I guessed "is this Uncle Frank or Cousin Louie?"
"Is it Bob, or Jim, or Ed, or Bernie, or Steve?"
I probably would've kept on guessing
But about that time we crashed into the truck.

And as I'm laying there bleeding on the asphalt
Finally I recognize the face of my hibachi dealer
who takes off his prosthetic lips and tells me

(chorus) Everything you know is wrong
Black is white, up is down and short is long
And everything you thought was just so
Important doesn't matter

Everything you know is wrong
Just forget the words and sing along
All you need to understand is
Everything you know is wrong

I was walkin' to the kitchen for some Golden Grahams
When I accidentally stepped into an alternate dimension
And soon I was abducted by some aliens from space
Who looked like Jamie Farr

They sucked out my internal organs
And they took some polaroids
And said I was a darn good sport
And as a way of saying thank you
They offered to transport me back to
Any point in history that I would care to go.

And so I had them send me back to last Thursday night
So I could pay my phone bill on time
Just then the floating disembodied head of
Colonel Sanders started yelling

(chorus) Everything you know is wrong
Black is white, up is down and short is long
And everything you thought was just so
Important doesn't matter

Everything you know is wrong
Just forget the words and sing along
All you need to understand is
Everything you know is wrong

I was just about to mail a letter to my evil twin
when I got a nasty paper cut
And, well, to make a long story short
It got infected and I died

So now I'm up in Heaven with St. Peter
by the pearly gates
And it's obvious he doesn't like
The Nehru jacket that I'm wearing
He tells me that they've got a dress code

Well, he lets me into Heaven anyway
But I get the room next to the noisy ice machine
for all eternity
And every day he's screaming

(chorus) Everything you know is wrong
Black is white, up is down and short is long
And everything you used to think was so important
Doesn't really matter anymore
Because the simple fact remains that

Everything you know is wrong
Just forget the words and sing along
All you need to understand is
Everything you know is wrong
Everything you know is wrong

So, there ya have it!

Nightmare on my street!

I wanted to get some content on here, so I figured I'd go the quick and simple route. Here we have a fun offering from none other than the Fresh Prince himself, Will Smith. I'm glad that Will is just Will these days, but boy was his run with Jazzy Jeff some good times!
Nightmare on my street is, of course Wills own personal encounter with Freddy Krueger. It was released in 1988 on the "He's the DJ, I'm the rapper" album, and on their greatest hits album.
I found a cheater video on Youtube, and I deffer to it mostly to bring more content to this blog, but I must admit it does simplify things knowing that I can put this video up and kill two birds with one stone (lyrics AND the video!). I hope that by the end you are grinning ear to ear... this song is a hoot!
As with a lot of Will Smiths talented offerings, this song is fun, funny, entertaining and enjoyable. Hip hop/ rap may not be your cup 'o tea, but hopefully in giving this a listen, it'll be as fun as going to a movie!
So, with out further adeux, I give you...
Nightmare on my street! BTW, I really did live on Elm street for a short time! It was more of a tragedy than a nightmare, but that's another story!

Also, I have been pretty '80's heavy with the songs posted... I have some others coming that will change that up too, so stay tuned! Get it... tuned!

Band of the Hand

This is the 1986 movie Band of the Hand. I couldn't quite figure out how to just manipulate the clip of Shriekbacks' song Faded Flowers, so if you just want to view it, forward to 0:30:00 and watch to 0:33:30. That is the entire Santeria scene with the song Faded Flowers.

Faded Flowers

Maybe I just have a thing for the '80's, but there are sooooo very many songs from that era that either are directly paranormal, or are hauntingly beautiful.
Here I submit to you a song that is (I think) pleasingly both.
The band is Shriekback and the song is called 'Faded Flowers'. It was featured in the 1986 B movie 'Band of the Hand'. The particular scene it was placed in, was a lead into a scene where the lead bad guy, Nestor (James Remar), tells the gorgeous young leading lady, Nikki (Lauren Holly)  to go to his bed room, take off her clothes and wait for him there. He does a line of coke, and dismisses Nikki to go to the bed room. Once there, the lights go out, it gets dark and there's an eerie blueish light glowing from the bedroom closet. As she approaches, the camera pans around to reveal Nestors' Santeria altar with a chicken sacrifice, a skull and appeasement offerings on it. Needless to say, it gets the imagination going as to how bad this situation will turn out. Faded Flowers is a hauntingly beautiful song with phrases included that I speculate are occult, but still need to confirm. The allusion to ritual and the poetic magic of the lyrics is amazing.
Whether you like this song or not, is up to you. First I'll post lyrics and then other for you to peruse. With that... enjoy!

This is the sound of poisons
The sickness no one knows
No one is crying for us this time
Our shapes are blurring
under miracles of snow
Weave a circle 'round him three times
You have to plan your moves at these times
Our hearts are breaking
One more song to go

Chorus
These eyes are blind
This is a pure thing
These hands I kiss
Tragic as anything
These eyes are blind
This is a pure thing
All splash and hiss
Beyond my measure

Only the anacrucis
The main event remains
Shameful and naked, out there
In the great cold outdoors
We have to learn these things again
Bathe in this incandescent glow
The leap to something I don't know
There is no doubt upon us when
The greasy men come back again

Chorus

These faded flowers
Precious as memory
A veil of cloud
correct as energy
We had some good machines
But they don't work no more
I loved you once
Don't love you any more

Chorus

These faded flowers
Precious as memory
A veil of cloud
correct as energy
We had some good machines
But they don't work no more
I loved you once
Don't love you any more
(repeat)

Faded Flowers is from the 1985 album 'Oil and Gold' and was written by David Allen, Martyn Barker, Carl Marsh and Barry William Andrews.

Also, here is a link to the movie Band of the Hand. The scene with Faded Flowers can be seen from 0:30:00 - 0:33:29 The movie Band of the Hand was actually a large link, so it can be viewed on it's own link here at Paranormal Tunes.

Six, Six, Six...

Alright! What a great place to start, but with 666. It doesn't get much more paranormal than that, but WAIT! There IS more! The song 'Six, Six, Six' was done by the Christian pop rock group De Garmo & Key way back in 1984 on their Communication album. The original music video for the song was labeled as 'too graphically intense', and had some editing done to make it more 'conservative' friendly. The particular scene that was changed was when the 'Evil Man of Sin', makes the nonverbal command to the police to '86' the main character, in the original video when the burn barrel is kicked over, the Evil Man ignites in massive flames and walks around as if everything were normal. I guess we can't have any flaming wickedness going on! So It was changed to a crystal ball retrieved from the flames, as you can see in the video link attached.
Six, Six, Six is a classic '80's pop, hook 'n goove type rock song. So, for your lyrical pleasure, I submit to you... Six,Six,Six

I was feeling kind of restless
So I went out for a walk
and I ran into a stranger
And for hours we just talked
He said 'I've waited for this moment
All my life. This is it.'
And when I ask him to explain it
He just smiled and told me
'Six, Six, Six.'

He said 'Things will get much better
For tonight is New Age Eve
I can even change the weather
And do things you won't believe
I've got signs and wonders in my
Bag of tricks.'
And when I ask him to explain it
He just smiled and told me
'Six, Six,Six.'

I said 'Jesus won't you save me
From this evil man of sin
I have read about his future
I don't want to go with him.'
And when I looked up he had gone
But he had left a note that said
'My number is, my number is, my number is,
My number, my number, my number is
Six, Six, Six.'

When morning came I laughed
At what I thought was just a dream
And I went to call my neighbor
And to tell him all I'd seen
But when I reached for my address book
I felt sick
'Cause written across the pages
Every number there was
Six,Six,Six
Flight 666... departing- WELCOME

So, there you have it. Whether music with a message is your thing, or you are into or opposed to '80's music, this is just well done music.
From a drumming/ percussion stand point,Greg Morrow, who was on this recording played some very technical and mature parts here. No slacking on the drum whackin' here!
So, maybe this will become a regular listen for ya, or just a great addition to your music collection, at any rate, thanx for checkin' it out!

Welcome to Paranormal Tunes! So many bands write such great songs about a great many things... including the paranormal. I want to post lyrics to songs that are either obviously about the paranormal, or have a haunting 'feel' about them. Music is such an incredible medium to tell stories. Isn't music just poetry with instrumental accompaniment set to it? Or is it a musical score with poetry on top?
In any event, I'll be posting songs from a wide range of musical styles and tastes. This should be quite the fun blog indeed!
One of my main goals in this blog, is to open up people to a wide variety of musical styles and to challenge your musical appreciation.
I will strive to keep music in the more commercial vein, as harder forms of music and alternative styles have quite a bit of occult and paranormal as a mainstay of their lyrics. I am looking more to offer the odd song here and there with more or less 'accessible' forms and styles of music. On first glance, that may not seem like there are many songs to choose from, so I invite you to follow along with me as we uncover some great music that is linked to paranormal.
I am also open to suggestions of music that you know of that are paranormal in nature!
Whether the artist or group was deliberate with this, or not, let's have some fun!
I'm very new to this blogging thing, and am looking forward to see where this goes! I am a paranormal investigator, a proud T.A.P.S. family member, and have experienced paranormal activity my whole life. I'm also a seasoned drummer/ percussionist of 32 years and enjoy quite a wide spread of music and styles. My favorite time of year, particularly because of music, is Halloween and Fall/ October.
 Thanx for joining me!
